ECS's Policy on Chain Letters
As the number of users grows at an exponential rate on the Internet, so does the number of e-mail messages. The vast majority of these messages are legal and legitimate, but there is an alarming amount of illegal chain letters being sent.
According to the U.S. Postal Service, "chain letters are a form of gambling, and sending them through the mail (or by computer) violates Title 18, United States Code, Section 1302, the Postal Lottery Statute."
More information
As you can see, not only are these illegal, but they create a vast amount of useless traffic on our already heavily burdened Internet. It takes processor power to manage, storage space to hold, and bandwidth to transmit, all of which are limited.
If you receive one of these "chain letters" in any form, please contact the postmaster
Please do not delete the actual message until you have been in contact with one of the ECS staff members.
