INSTRUCTIONS and INSTALLATION

LabVIEW 8.6 - Important Note:

Labview v8.6 contains only the basic version of Labview. It is an .exe file that will unzip and install the software (Labview_v8.6.exe).

LabVIEW Core 8.5.1 - Downloading for Windows:

You will need to download the following 4 files for the Core software:

Labview_v.8.5.1_core_win-a.iso
Labview_v.8.5.1_core_win-b.iso
Labview_v.8.5.1_core_win-c.iso
Labview_v.8.5.1_core_win-d.iso

These files will need to be combined into one after they have been downloaded. To do this, open up the windows command prompt and type in the following:

copy /b Labview_v.8.5.1_core_win-a.iso + Labview_v.8.5.1_core_win-b.iso + Labview_v.8.5.1_core_win-c.iso + Labview_v.8.5.1_core_win-d.iso Labview_v.8.5.1_core_win.iso

This will create an .iso file that you can use to make the LabView DVD (approx. 6.5 gb)

NOTE - If your web browser appended a .htm or .txt to the end of the file names, please edit the above command with the extension.

If you wish to use the Signal Processing and Communication Optional disk or the Control and Embedded Systems Option disk or the Extended Development disk, you will have to run same copy /b command but substitute the filenames for each disk.

Signal Processing and Communication Optional Disk:

Download Labview_v.8.5.1_SignalOpt_win-a.iso and Labview_v.8.5.1_signalopt_win-b.iso

Open the Windows command prompt and type in the following:

copy /b Labview_v.8.5.1_SignalOpt_win-a.iso + Labview_v.8.5.1_SignalOpt_win-b.iso Labview_v.8.5.1_SignalProcess_win.iso

Control and Embedded Systems Option Disk:

Download Labview_v.8.5.1_ControlOpt-a.iso and -b.iso

Open the Windows command prompt and type in the following:

copy /b Labview_v.8.5.1_ControlOpt_win-a + -b + -c, +-d.iso Labview_v85_ControlEmbedSys_windows.iso

Extended Development Option Disk:

Same instructions stated above: use files Labview_v.8.5.1_extdev_win-a + -b.iso Labview_v85_extdev_win.iso

LabVIEW - Licensing:

LabVIEW requires a serial number during installation. After you have been approved to download LabVIEW, you will receive an e-mail containing the serial number.

LabView - Installation:

The install for LabVIEW is very straight forward. You will be asked a series of questions in regards to which pieces of the software you want to install. Answer Yes to those that you want to install, and NO to those that you do not want to install. DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES INSTALL THE LICENSE SERVER OPTION.

Once the installation is complete, you must activate LabVIEW.

LabVIEW - Activation

LabVIEW requires an activation code that you must acquire from the manufacturer via the internet. You will need the serial number used earlier.

Contact your Computer Support Representative (CSR) if you are having problems installing the software. Also, please review the documentation accompanying the software or visit the official site at www.ni.com.
